White Ash #1

Created by White Ash

White Ash is a new comic book series written by Charlie Stickney featuring stunning artwork from Conor Hughes and breathtaking colors from Fin Cramb. The fifty-two page first issue is packed with fantasy, horror, and forbidden romance, set against the backdrop of a small mining community in Western Pennsylvania. If you’re a fan of Supernatural, Twin Peaks or Lord of the Rings, you’re going to love getting to know our mysterious town.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Whoa, we're half way there…
about 7 years ago – Sat, Apr 22, 2017 at 02:37:40 PM

Wow, I can’t believe we’re already through fifteen days of funding. Tonight officially marks the mid-point of our campaign. And what an amazing ride it’s been so far. As aways, we here at Team Ash are incredibly honored that you’ve all decided to join us and grow our little town.

Tonight, we wanted to revisit Siff’s, now that Fin’s had a turn to show what he can do. I’m always shocked how I can be blown away twice by an image, once when Conor draws it up and then again when Fin’s brushes pass over it. As a writer, I’m incredibly lucky to get to work with such a talented team.

We also wanted to pass on a couple of updates:

1) The bookmark stretch goal is UNLOCKED. So everyone who’s getting physical with us… or more so, is getting something physical from us, will be also getting a shiny new bookmark.

2) Add-on’s are now available. So if you were one of the people who was interested in getting an extra copy of the book, scroll down to the bottom of the rewards section and you’ll find directions there on how to get one. We’ve also written them down HERE.

3) Finally, we’ve added another stretch goal. And this one is all about T-Shirts. They’ll look something like this —

We’re still figuring out the exact design. But that's the basic idea. If we reach $13,500 we’ll unlock a new pledge tier with that T-shirt as a reward. We will include the T-shirt as an additional reward (for free) to anyone who pledged at the $75 level or higher. T-shirts will also be available as an add-on. So if you want a shirt, spread the word.

Thank you ever so much,

Charlie and the rest of Team Ash

We're throwing a wallpaper party!

Good evening White Ashians,

As you can probably tell from the title of this post, we’ve blown past and unlocked our digital desktop wallpaper stretch goal. Amazing!

We should have some sneak previews of those ready to show off early next week. Today however, I’d like to share with you a sketch Conor’s done for Katlyn Keen, one of the co-owners of Double K Gas — a mom and pop service station that’s hanging on through customer loyalty and the sheer will of its young owners.

Katlyn has known Aleck since they were kids and she’s naturally protective when Lillian starts to show an interest in her childhood friend. But how far is she willing to go to keep Aleck safe? And what exactly does he need to be kept safe from? You’ll have to wait to find out.

Finally, thanks to your support, we’re only $500 away from the bookmark stretch goal. So please keep spreading the word about White Ash, and we’ll blow past that one too and be on to expanding the comic. More White Ash is good for everyone. Well, except perhaps for the people who live there.

Have a great weekend,

Charlie

We're Making a Comic!

Dear amazing White Ash backers,

Please take a bow. Thanks to your unbelievably generous contributions, we’ve reached our goal in only six days! To be able to accomplish that without pre-built fan base is stunning. The team here at White Ash couldn't not be more blown away and humbled by your interest and support.

So really, thank you.

But it’s not over yet. We still have 23 days left in the campaign, which means we have a chance to make the book and our rewards even better for you, our amazing backers. That’s right, it’s time for stretch goals.

Stretch Goal #1 ($9,500) Wallpaper For Everyone

Once we hit this mark, every backer will also receive two exclusive White Ash digital wallpapers. Conor has created some truly amazing art and we want you to enjoy it on your desktops!

Stretch Goal #2 ($10,500) Bookmark Time

Once we hit this mark, every backer who was receiving something in the P.G.O.F.M. (Physical, Good Old-Fashioned Mail), will receive a stylish, White Ash bookmark for use in all of your favorite books. Go ahead, use them in a Tom Clancy novel, we won’t mind.

Stretch Goal #3 ($12,000) Bigger Is Better

Once we hit this mark, we’re going to add four more pages to the book. This will give us a chance to showcase a bit more of Conor and Fin’s amazing artwork. Everyone wins on this one.

Stretch Goal #4 ($13,000) Stuck on You

It’s magnet time. Once we hit this mark, every backer who was receiving something in the P.G.O.F.M., will also receive an exclusive White Ash magnet. Feel free to stick this on your refrigerator or wherever else you have a bit of exposed metal — no judging.

Stretch Goal #5 ($14,000) BIGGEST IS EVEN BETTER

If we’re lucky enough to hit this mark, we’re going to add another four pages to the book. (bringing it to an oversized 56 pages)  And honestly, we’re going to need them. If we’ve raised this much, we’ll need more space for all of the names of our wonderful backers. We don’t want to have to list you all in a Times size 3 font.

After that… well, let’s just say figuring those out will be a problem that we’ll be more than happy to have. And if we get close, and there’s a stretch goal you’d like us to add, don’t be shy. We’d love to make you happy.

So truly, thank you again for your support. And please keep spreading the word.

Rolling into town!
about 7 years ago – Sat, Apr 08, 2017 at 09:19:56 AM

As we hit the weekend, we are currently sitting at 88% funded.  That is an unbelievable figure that's far beyond anything we could have reasonably hoped for. Thank you everyone for believing in the project and helping us get here so quickly.  We only have a little ways left to go, so please keep spreading the word and we'll all be having dinner in White Ash together early next week.

Today I wanted to share a couple little things with you.  First, here's a sneak peek at what I'm fortunate enough to receive from Conor as we start the process of breaking down the script.

Aleck meets Lillian
Aleck meets Lillian

This is a thumbnail for a future page.  Already you can see how much life and emotion he brings to the scene with just a couple of simple lines.  White Ash is incredibly fortunate to have artists like Conor and Fin bringing the world to life.

Secondly, I want to point out a couple of other comics currently live on Kickstarter.  Getting independent comics off the ground takes a village.  And I thought I might direct mine to a few that might be of interest.

For our fantasy fans, Galahad and the Far-Off Horizon is a beautiful looking book.  I think it might be a bit more kid friendly than ours.  Definitely worth checking out.

For our horror fans, check out Anti-Christ.  It's an interesting take on the end of the world mythos, with a reluctant protagonist who has no interest in playing her part.

And for our romance fans, you've got to take a look at Too Good to be True. The art is gorgeous, and the story has a Notting Hill vibe to it.

So have a great weekend everyone. And again, thank you so very much,

Charlie

Whoa!  We're really kicking ASH!  Seventy-five percent funded in thirty-six hours???

Thank you all so much for getting us to this point so quickly.  To celebrate, we wanted to share with you a quick peek at Conor's rendition of one of White Ash's most infamous haunts -- Siff's Diner.

Siff's
Siff's

Home to the world famous Stack Attack, Siff's has been satisfying the stomachs of the denizens of White Ash pretty much since the town's charter was drawn up.

We'll have more for you soon. Till then, thank you again for your support and please continue to share / like / and spread the news!

Welcome to town everyone.
